1,069,186. Temporary wheels. H. HELM. June 2, 1965 [June 2, 1964], No. 23541/65. Heading B7D. [Also in Division B8] A timber-hauling attachment for a tractor comprises a beam 3 detachably connected by struts 4 to a plate 2 which is supported by the tractor lift links and which is provided with wheels 10 adapted to be locked in either a ground-engaging position, Fig. 2 (not shown), or a raised inoperative position, Fig. 1. Each wheel 10 is supported in a fork 11 formed with a spigot which is rotatably mounted in a sleeve 13 secured to arms 14. The arms 14 are pivoted at 15 to brackets 18 secured to the plate 2. In operation, with the wheels 10 raised, the beam 3 is lowered to and ground and inserted under a tree trunk by reversing the tractor. The beam is then raised, a chain or rope is wrapped around the trunk and secured to the plate 2 and the wheels 10 are lowered if necessary to support a heavy trunk. In modifications, Figs. 3, 4 (not shown), an attachment for supporting stacks of wood and a winch mounted on a tripod are mounted on the plate 2.
