Alkylpolyalkylene glycol carboxylates are prepared by a process which comprises reacting a carboxylic ester with an alkylene oxide in the presence of a multimetal cyanide compound of the formula I <paragraph lvl="0"><in-line-formula>M3zM1a[M2(CN)b(A)c]d.fM1gXn.mM3pYq.h(H2O).eL.kP (I), </in-line-formula>as catalyst and can be used as raw materials for concrete fluidizer polymers.
