An image processing method capable of effectively displaying movement of an object composed of a plurality of polygons. According to the method, predetermined vertexes of polygons constituting an abject are displaced backward so as to obtain an afterglow having a tail in the direction opposite to movement of the object when the object is displayed. This can emphasize the movement of the object when displayed and can display a moving object adequately.
