The mechanism incorporates a segment plate (36) fastened to a second part of a pivoted adjusting element via a guide plate. Segmented plate, guide plate, and second part execute a simultaneous pivot movement about a lower pivot axis (A), when an adjusting grip (28) is operated. The segmented plate is held on a bearing face, to allow movement of the plate relative to the guide plate about the axis, between two positions, to define a second pivot movement. It also has a quick-acting operating element (52), and locking unit.
