The device comprises a gas cylinder (15) variable in length and extending between an instrument panel (10) and a portion (3) of a vehicle. The gas cylinder comprises of locking mechanism that prevents variation in length of the gas cylinder to provide support for the panel relative to portion of the vehicle, when the mechanism is in a locked state. The mechanism changes the length of the cylinder during its unlocked state. |
