<p>Disclosed is a light guide plate for a backlight unit capable of uniformly maintaining luminance over a screen by use of enlarged horizontal V-shaped grooves, with a size of each groove increased as it goes far from a light source of the backlight unit. According to the prior art, because the uniformity of luminance is attempted by adjusting the spacing or density of the vertical V-shaped grooves only, the spacing of the vertical V-shaped grooves is increased. In particular, the more a size of the light guide plate is large, the more difficult it is to adjust the spacing of the grooves. In addition, there is a problem in achieving the uniformity of the luminance over the screen of the backlight.The light guide plate for a backlight unit including a plurality of V-shaped grooves at a desired spacing along a light emitting direction of a light source is characterized in that the V-shaped grooves comprises a number of enlarged horizontal V-shaped grooves having a width and a depth which are gradually enlarged as it goes far from the light source.</p> |
