Device for electronic measurement and actualization of operating data, e.g. repair and maintenance data, using a PDA (1) with one or more interfaces, an input and a display. The PDA further has a passive memory element (6) and an active tagging unit (2) that is used for data transfer to and from the memory element, so that state and maintenance data can be stored in the PDA. An Independent claim is made for a method for recording maintenance and operating data using a PDA with a tagging unit for inputting data.
