This invention relates to pharmaceutical compositions and methods of treatment utilizing a PTPase (protein-tyrosine phosphatase) inhibitors and an angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor to lower the risk of cardiovascular disease and cardiovascular events in a mammal experiencing or subject to type 11 diabetes in mammals experiencing or subject to type 11 diabetes (non-insulindependent diabetes mellitus), preferably in human type 11 diabetics, or Syndrome X.
