[Also in Division F2] A bushing (2) for the spindle (1) of a windscreen wiper is made of synthetic plastics material and is formed with an integral flange (7) which is inclined to the axis of the bushing and is positioned intermediate the ends thereof. The bushing (2) is clamped to a portion (20) of a car body by means of a nut (11) which screwably engages threads of the bushing and is urged against a washer (10), an inclined face of which abuts the portion (20) of the car body. Parallel relationship of the flange (7) and the inclined face of the washer (10) is maintained by an integral key (9) of the bushing being received by an axial groove (19) in the washer (10). The bushing (2) is provided with radial stiffening ribs (8). The spindle (1) has one end (3) thereof formed with a square cross-section which carries an operating lever (15), having a similar shaped aperture therein, and has another end (4) formed as an externally-milled cylinder which carries an internally-milled collar (12), the latter also being milled externally so as to receive a seating (13) of a wiper arm (14). The lever (15) and the collar (12) are further secured to the ends (3 and 4) of the spindle (1) by riveting. A washer (17) and a spring-washer (18) are provided between one end of the bushing (1) and the lever (15), and a washer (16) is provided between the other end of the bushing (1) and the collar (12). |
