The invention relates to a method for producing a printing ink or a printing ink concentrate. The inventive method comprises the following steps that are successively carried out: an aqueous slurry that contains lipophilic coloring pigments and a lipophilic binder are fed to a first treatment area; the aqueous coloring pigment slurry and the binder that have been fed to the first treatment area are subjected in said first treatment area to shearing and extensional flows so that an at least partial flushing of the lipophilic coloring pigments from the aqueous slurry with the lipophilic binder takes place; downstream of said first treatment area water stemming from the aqueous slurry is removed for the first time; the partially dehydrated flowable mass obtained in the first treatment area is fed to a second treatment area in which the flowable mass is subjected to shearing, extensional and compressive effects; water released as a separate phase in the first treatment area is removed from the flowable mass for the second time by way of partial flushing; the substantially dehydrated flowable mass in which the lipophilic coloring pigments are dispersed in the lipophilic binder is removed as an intermediate or final product and collected.
