<p>A heartburn and reflux disease treatment apparatus comprises an implantable stimulation device (56) adapted to engage with the cardi (62) a sphincter of a patient, who suffers from heartburn and reflux disease, and a control device (62) for controlling the stimulation device to stimulate the cardia sphincter to increase the sphincter tonus, so that the cardia completely closes.
