The use of a polynuclear metal oxide-modified adsorption material (I) is claimed (a) in the treatment and/or prophylaxis of atherosclerotic vascular diseases and/or bone metabolism disorders or (b) for reducing the calcium-phosphate product of blood. An Independent claim is included for a pharmaceutical composition based on (I), where (I) has been pretreated with phosphate.
