A sea water desalination assembly is a translucent inverted cone in which water and air vapour rises to a compressor zone, setting paddles (6) in motion about a central axle (10). Desalinated water is separated, trapped and discharged. The inverted cone has an air gap at the base promoting convection. A circular gutter (7) is located at the base of the compressor zone. The paddles are cooled by a piped (14) fluid medium.
