The invention concerns a movement detecting device, designed in particular for a computer mouse or a hand-held scanner, comprising a light source (7) associated with a prism (8) to illuminate a field (4) of the object (1) whereof the movements are to be detected. An optoelectronic sensor (13) mounted on a printed circuit board (6) in accordance with the COB technique receives a image of said field (4) through an optical system with a lens (10). The board (6) further supports the light source, the prism and the optical system, thereby ensuring an accurate mutual positioning of said elements. Its circuits are preferably located on only one side of the board. The prism (8) and the lens (10) are mounted on a common support (12) which is locked on to the board (6).
