PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering system for a vehicle allowing an operating member to be reset into a straight advancing position in natural motion while eliminating time and labor for a driver to reset the operating member into the straight advancing position in a vehicle adopting a steer-by-wire system. SOLUTION: The motion of a steering actuator driven according to the rotation of the operating member is transmitted to wheels so that a steering angle changes according to the motion of the steering actuator, without mechanically connecting the operating member to the wheels. A reaction actuator for generating reaction applied in a direction of resetting the operating member into a straight advancing position is controlled to generate reaction corresponding to the rotation quantity of the operating member from the straight advancing position on the basis of the predetermined corresponding relation between the rotation quantity and the grade of reaction. The corresponding relation is determined so that the grade of reaction is increased/decreased corresponding to the increase/decrease of the rotation quantity and that the grade of reaction is larger when the rotation quantity is decreased than when the rotation quantity is increased. |
