PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeder for reducing cost by reducing the number of parts required for a paper remainder meter and improving the reliability of the paper remainder meter and workability during assembly and maintenance. SOLUTION: The paper feeder having a paper feed cassette storage part in which paper feed cassettes are arranged in vertical stages comprises a supporting rod 51 supported at its upper and lower ends and disposed in the plurality of cassettes in common, a plurality of indicators 48 slidably supported by the supporting rod 51 corresponding to the plurality of paper feed cassettes, a spring member supported by the supporting rod 51 for energizing each of the plurality of indicators 48 upward, and a plurality of levers 44 each engaging each of the plurality of indicators 48 for moving each indicator up and down in linkage with the vertical movement of a paper stacking plate corresponding to each indicator 48.
