PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document detecting device, a document delivering device, an image reading device and an image forming device capable of miniaturizing a device in spite of using a reflection-type photosensor. SOLUTION: An opening part penetrating through an upper delivery guide 61 and a lower delivery guide 62 is formed, the reflection-type photosensor 60 is mounted on an upper part of the opening of the upper delivery guide 61 for applying the light toward a delivery surface of a document S and receiving the light reflected by the document within a range of the irradiation, and a mirror 63 is mounted on a lower part of the opening of the lower delivery guide 62 for deflecting the irradiation light at a position over the delivery surface of the document S in the light irradiating direction. The mirror 63 deflects the irradiation light approximately horizontally to the document delivering direction.
