PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a loss of energy by shear resistance of oil to improve fuel consumption of a motor, in a differential device having an intermitting function of drive force. SOLUTION: This differential device has an outer case 3 rotationally driven by the drive force of the motor, an inner case 5 connected with a differential mechanism 29, and a clutch 17 engaging/disengaging the cases 3, 5. In the differential device, floating members 51, 51 not engaging with any of the case 3 and side gears 37, 39 are disposed between the case 3 and the side gears 37, 39 relatively rotating in a release state of connection of the clutch 17.
