PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a photographic image whose quality is hardly deteriorated. SOLUTION: When a film cartridge is loaded, the manufacturing date and the nominal sensitivity of photographic film are inputted into the camera. In the case of photographing, the number of days elapsed from the manufacturing date of the loaded photographic film is calculated from the present 'date' measured with a clock circuit provided in the camera and the manufacturing date of the photographic film, and the corrected film sensitivity corresponding to the number of elapsed days is acquired. The corrected film sensitivity is made smaller than the nominal film sensitivity by an extent in accordance with the number of elapsed days. On the basis of the corrected film sensitivity and subject luminance, an exposure value at which appropriate exposure is obtained is found and photographing is performed at a diaphragm value and at shutter speed corresponding to the exposure value.
