PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital measuring device whose operability and reliability are enhanced and by which a maximum value and a minimum value can be detected easily, and to provide a detection method for the peak value of the digital measuring device. SOLUTION: The digital measuring device is provided with a pair of gauge heads which are brought into contact with a measuring part at a specimen, a detection means 21 which detects the distance between the pair of gauge heads, a digital display 26 in which detection values detected by the detection means 21 are digitally displayed, a data storage part 24, and a computing control unit 22. The part 22 is provided with an inflection-point detection means by which an inflection point is detected from among the detection values, a means by which the inflection point is stored in the part 24, an inflection-point comparison means by which the stored inflection point is compared with the detected inflection point, and a coincident inflection-point hold means by which the digital display of the part 26 is held in its coincident inflection point when the compared inflection points coincide.
