PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller for a throttle valve drive device capable of improving stability of control, control accuracy and a following characteristic to a target value of a throttle valve opening. SOLUTION: The throttle valve drive device comprises a throttle valve 3, a motor 6 driving the throttle valve 3, a return spring 4 energizing the throttle valve 3 to the valve-closing direction, and an elastic member 5 energizing the throttle valve 3 to the valve-opening direction. The throttle valve drive device is modeled, and a model parameter is decided such that a characteristic of a control target model coincides with an actual characteristic. The model parameter is identified by a model parameter identification unit 22, and an adaptation sliding mode controller 21 decides a control amount DUT of the motor 6 by use of the identified model parameter.
