PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer type printer which can form high-image quality images without bleeding or the like to a surface of an optical information recording medium, by preventing transfer failures resulting from deflection and distortion of the optical information recording medium. SOLUTION: The thermal transfer type printer 100 provided with an imaging means 104 for forming images to the surface of the discal optical information recording medium by heating and pressuring a transfer sheet by a thermal head 102 is provided with a detecting means 106 for detecting the deflection and/or distortion of the optical information recording medium, and a transfer temperature control means 108 for controlling a heating temperature of the thermal head in accordance with the deflection and/or distortion detected by the detecting means 106.
