PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for a ceramic heater where press- fitting of a heater body and a metal outer cylinder is achieved smoothly, and a ceramic heater manufactured by the foregoing method. SOLUTION: The ceramic heater comprises a rod-shaped heater body 1 where a resistance heater 11 is embedded in itself, and a metal outer cylinder 3 mounted through press-fitting on an outer peripheral surface of the heater body 1. A tapered surface 2p where an inclination angleθwith respect to an axial line O is 0.5 deg. or more and 50 deg. or less, is formed on at least one end in the direction of the axial line O of an outer peripheral surface of the heater body 1 in the configuration where the diameter is reduced as it goes to the tip end of the heater body 1. The tapered surface 2p contributes to smooth press-fitting into the metal outer cylinder 3 of the heater body 1.
