PURPOSE: A method for recording a long time field of a time lapse VCR is provided to prevent abrasion of a drum and reduce production costs by guaranteeing a field record mode more than 24 hours. CONSTITUTION: A method for recording a long time field of a time lapse VCR includes the steps of providing analog data photographed at a camera to a signal processing part(301), converting the analog data into digital data and providing the converted digital data to a microcomputer(302), playing a capstan motor in a low speed mode(303), controlling a deck to record one field of digital data at a record(304), controlling the capstan motor to record one field of digital data(305), turning off driving voltage of the capstan motor during a random time(306), turning on driving voltage of the capstan motor after passing the random time to record the rest of one field of the digital data(307-308), repeatedly performing the record process until the play position of the tape arrives at the end(309).
