PURPOSE: A method for receiving a short message in a mobile communication terminal is provided to continuously receive new SMS(Short Message Service) data and store only the latest SMS data in the mobile communication terminal by transmitting a "non-opened SMS data" as an E-mail according to a sequence among "non-opened SMS data" stored in the mobile communication terminal in case that SMS data which are greater than a memory region assigned in the mobile communication terminal are received. CONSTITUTION: If a new short message is received when SMS data capable of deletion do not exist, it is judged whether "non-opened SMS data" exist(S15). If the "non-opened SMS data" do not exist, the received new SMS data are transmitted to a previously designated E-mail account and the SMS data are deleted for emptying a space for next SMS data(S16). If the "non-opened SMS data" exist, primarily received SMS data are transmitted to the previously designated E-mail account(S17). The SMS data transmitted to the E-mail account are deleted(S18). The SMS data are successively shifted, and the SMS data are stored in the last address of a basic capacity(S19).
