PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the premature wear and damage of a part of the addendum corner part of a dress gear, to eliminate a variation in the number of dressings, to prolong the service life of the dress gear, and to increase the number of re-electrodepositions. SOLUTION: This dress gear used for hard gear honing comprises a work 10, a dress gear 10 having the same major specifications as the work, and a grinding wheel 1 formed inscribably on the dress gear at a shaft cross hatch angle 8, and used to finish the tooth faces 9 of the work at the shaft cross hatch angle of the grinding wheel. The tooth width dimension 32 of the dress gear is set to such a dimension that a dress gear end face 31 is flush with or projected from the end face 19 of the grinding wheel at an engaged position 24 of the dress gear with the grinding wheel in the stat that a one side oscillation width 43 (S) is applied to the dress gear when the dress gear is dressed by the grinding wheel. The one side oscillation width S is taken as the one side oscillation width (6 mm or shorter) in grinding the work.
