PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for grinding the outer peripheral surface of a ferrule, which can hold the ferrule in a centering state and can rotate the ferrule always normally from the start of the outer peripheral surface grinding of the ferrule till finishing without giving a large load on the opening edges of both ends of the ferrule. SOLUTION: A pair of center pins 21 and 22 are engaged with both end openings of the ferrule W to center the ferrule W. Face contact bodies 19b and 20b provided at the tip of a pair of rotary shafts 14 and 15 come into face contact with both end surfaces of the ferrule W to hold the ferrule W in the centering state. The synchronous rotation of both rotary shafts 14 and 15 by a motor 38 for rotation through a synchronous shaft 29 applies rotational force to the ferrule W from both ends. A rotary grindstone 44 is brought into contact with the outer peripheral surface of the ferrule W to grind the outer peripheral surface of the ferrule W.
