PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically detect an obstacle of a running passage. SOLUTION: Light emitting ends (a) to (h) of an optical sensor are disposed before and after a stacker crane 2 running in the running passage 6, and light receiving ends A to H of the optical sensor are disposed at both ends of the running passage 6. Light is emitted from the light emitting ends (a) to (h) sequentially while delaying the timing, existence information of light receiving signals at the light receiving ends A to H is converted serially by a parallel/serial converter 10 and is transmitted to the stacker crane 2 by optical communication.
