PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an iron based consumable welding material which can obtain a welded joint having excellent fatigue strength, and which can sufficiently make the most of the fatigue strength characteristic of the steel sheet even when a high tensile strength steel sheet is used as a base metal, and a welded joint which can exhibit the above characteristics. SOLUTION: The iron based consumable welding material has a composition containing 0.005 to 0.40% C, 0.2 to 8% Mn, >1.2 to 8.0% Si and 0.05 to 0.6% S. Suitable amounts of Ni, Nb, V, Cr, Mo, Cu, Ca, B or the like can be added thereto. Further, the material can be a covered welding rod or a flux cored with besides a solid wire.
