摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus in which high image quality excellent in reproducibility of a microdot and gradation can be realized without complicating an exposing unit even when an a-Si photosensitive body is used. SOLUTION: A semiconductor laser is employed in an exposing unit, and the rising part of optical output from the semiconductor laser is provided with an overshoot of overexposure intensity P1 for holding an electrostatic latent image strongly by overexposing an amorphous silicon photosensitive body. Following to the overshoot, an exposure intensity P2 is provided for forming an electrostatic latent image corresponding to the gradation on the amorphous silicon photosensitive body with a pulse width corresponding to the gradation of dots forming the image. Furthermore, means for regulating variation is provided in the amount of exposure of the P1 , caused by variation of the semiconductor laser constituting the exposing unit, by the pulse width. Variation in the amount of exposure caused by characteristic variation of the semiconductor laser is regulated by the pulse width, a microdot is reproduced by the overshoot P1 , and gradation is reproduced by the P2 .
