PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head protecting air bag device whose air bag can be quickly developed and inflated even with a narrow gap reserved between the intra-cabin wall configured with window glass, etc., and an occupant. SOLUTION: The head protecting air bag device includes the air bag 11 folded by accommodated at the upper rims of windows W1 and W2 adjacent to a pillar part CT on the intra-cabin side of a vehicle. An inflator 25 is equipped with a first gas discharge port and a second gas discharge port which makes gas discharge late from the first gas discharge port. The upper edge of the air bag 11 is coupled in such a way as to allow the inflating gas to flow into the second gas discharge port of the inflator 25 while the lower edge is coupled with a developing means 38 accommodated near the pillar part CP capable of developing upon pulling down the air bag 11 which has been accommodated. The developing means 38 is equipped with a drive source 40 which uses the gas discharged from the first gas discharge port of the inflator 25.
