A method comprising providing a plurality of DNA chips on a common chip carrier such that the chips may be processed individually in a corresponding plurality of wells, and analysing the chips on the chip carrier by mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF). The chips are located on stems - which may be elastic and which have a shape such that their height and separation may be adjusted - which are arranged in an array on a base plate of the chip carrier and are immersed in a corresponding array of wells for processing. During mass spectrometric analysis the chip carrier is covered by a metallic frame that fills the gaps between the chips and contacts them electrically. The plurality of wells can take the form of microtitre plates. |
