PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rope maintenance/control device of an elevator for keeping a rope in a good condition by removing the oil, moisture and dirt from the rope and extending the life of the rope for improving the safety of the elevator. SOLUTION: The rope maintenance/control device is for the rope 2 stretched between the elevator cab and a hoist sheave 1 for moving up/down the cab according to the rotation of the hoist sheave 1. The rope maintenance/control device comprises a detergent liquid applying part 4 for applying a detergent liquid to the rope 2, a rinsing part 6 disposed following the detergent liquid applying part 4 along the rope 2 for rinsing the detergent liquid from the rope with a rinsing liquid, and moisture removing parts 7 and 11 disposed following the rinsing part 6 along the rope 2 for removing the moisture in the rope 2.
