PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automobile chassis frame with an easy piping capable of ensuring required rigidity without increasing a weight, realizing a common use of a cross member and selecting a tightening structure of the cross member corresponding to the generation state of tensile stress on a chassis frame. SOLUTION: In the automobile chassis frame, when a pair of right and left side members having a U-shaped cross section of which inner sides are opposed to each other and which has flanges 11a, 11b at upper and lower sides are connected by a plurality of cross members 12, 12-I, etc., both ends of the cross members 12, 12-I, etc., are tightened to one flange 11a or 11b at the U-shaped cross section of the respective side members and a central web surface 11c having a U-shaped cross section. Thereby, rigidity and durable strength equal to those of a conventional tightening type member can be ensured while inhibiting an increase of weight and a common use of the cross member is realized while flexible coping with a difference of a cross section dimension of the side members. A gap can be set between the upper and lower flanges of the cross member and the side member, piping or the like are easy and workability is also good. A tightening structure of the cross member can be selected corresponding to a circumstance of generation of the tensile stress on the chassis frame.
