PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protective cap for a ferrule, that protects the ferrule against contamination due to a trace of gas and facilitates mounting, attaching and detaching and that excels in workability. SOLUTION: The protective cap for a ferrule is provided with ribs projecting on the inner face of a cylinder at nearly equal spaces apart. The protective cap, with the ribs provided on the inner face of the cylinder, makes a minute clearance between it and a ferrule side face, thereby enabling a polluting gas to be dispersed outside, reducing contamination of the ferrule and enhancing reliability in joining the connector. In addition, a small contact area is also effective for smooth mounting, attaching and detaching as well as superior workability.
