PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a furnace lining which prevents the surface of a treated steel sheet from getting a flaw due to the dust flying from a furnace lining material and economically prevents slip-off and fall-off from a heat insulating wall of a heat-resistant cloth. SOLUTION: The furnace lining is prepared by covering a ceramic fiber block or a carbon fiber block with the heat-resistant cloth made of inorganic fibers. The cloth is woven with an original yarn size of 200 or more and the texture density of either the warp or the weft is 30-42 threads/inch, while that of the other is 20-42 threads/inch.
