PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent production of bumps on the sheath surface of an optical fiber cord and to obtain preferable appearance of the optical fiber cord having the sheath made of a resin composition prepared by blending ammonium polyphosphate and melamine cyanurate as a flame retardant in a polyester elastomer. SOLUTION: The sheath 3 is made of a resin composition prepared by blending ammonium polyphosphate, melamine cyanurate and silica in a polyester elastomer. When the total proportion of the ammonium polyphosphate and melamine cyanurate is 15 to 16 wt.%, the proportion of the blended silica is controlled to 5 to 10 wt.%. When the total proportion of the two is 17 to 18 wt.%, the proportion of the silica is controlled to 2.5 to 10 wt.%.
