PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve system for an internal combustion engine simplifying and miniaturizing structure of a lever member. SOLUTION: This valve system for an internal combustion engine comprises three cams 23, 24, 25 provided on a cam shaft 22, a first rocker arm 26 driven by a low-speed cam 23, and a second rocker arm 27 driven by a medium-speed cam 24. An energizing mechanism energizing a first lever member in a linkage releasing direction has a sliding hole extending in a direction orthogonal to an inner end surface of the first lever member and having a shape lowering at a tip end in a lower part of the first rocker arm, and is provided with a coil spring pressing an inner end surface thereof on the inside of the sliding hole through a plunger.
