PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide medicine packaging apparatus that is capable of putting tablets into a required number of tablet-containers among a large number of tablet-containers, is compact, and is easy to handle. SOLUTION: The medicine packaging apparatus that packages medicines according to given prescriptions comprises an input means that inputs prescription data, a packaging means that packages medicines, and a relatively small number of tablet supply means that supply tablets stored in containers. The medicine packaging apparatus also comprises identification means that are provided on the tablet containers, and a reading means that reads the identification means on the tablet containers. The medicine packaging apparatus further comprises a powdered medicine processing means that packages and dispenses each quantity of powdered medicine, the quantity being determined by a given prescription. Additionally, the medicine packaging apparatus comprises a powdered medicine storage shelves that keeps bottles of powdered medicines on, powdered medicine identification means that are provided on the bottles of powdered medicines, a reading means that reads the identification means on the bottles of powdered medicines, and a medicine checking means that compares powdered medicine data, obtained by reading the identification means on the bottle of medicine, with corresponding prescription data, thereby checking whether the medicine is correct.
