PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a right and left checking device for an automobile simple in operation, and capable of extensively checking a mobile object approaching in the left direction or in the right direction without moving the body in a driver's seat. SOLUTION: This right and left checking device comprises a two-faced mirror 15 provided on a bonnet 12 in front of a driver's seat of an automobile 11 and having a left mirror 13 and a right mirror 14 capable of visually recognizing the mobile object approaching from the left direction or the right direction with respect to the advancing direction of the automobile 11, an opening angle adjusting means 16 for adjusting the relative opening angle of one of the left mirror 13 and the right mirror 14 to the other, a turning means 17 to turn the two-faced mirror 15 in an erected condition and adjust the angle of view field of the two-faced mirror 15, and a turning unit provided in the vicinity of the driver's seat of the car to instruct the operation of at least the turning means 17.
