PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner for an electric vehicle capable of achieving sufficient cooling ability even when heat environments are changed, and preventing an excessive load on a motor for a compressor or useless power consumption of it. SOLUTION: Even when temperature of an evaporator 7 becomes lower than a set temperature, the motor for the compressor is not completely stopped, but it is rotated at a low rotation number, so that deterioration of cooling ability of the evaporator 7 is prevented. At this time, a rotation number of a motor 9 for driving a fan is regulated to minimize total of power consumption of the motor 3 for the compressor and power consumption of the motor 9 for driving the fan, thereby total power consumption necessary for actuation of this air conditioner for an electric vehicle can be reduced.
