PURPOSE: An apparatus for managing an ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) network is provided to periodically monitor a network through an ATM switch network and automatically restart the network when abnormality is generated in an alarm control processor. CONSTITUTION: An ATM switch unit(1) switches a network so that a server and a client perform a data communication by an asynchronous transmission method through the network. Master processors(2A¯2N-1) are located between the ATM switch unit(1) and an Ethernet hub(3) for controlling a data and voice communication through the network and controlling a call connection. An alarm control processor(2N) periodically monitors the network and outputs a reset signal for restarting the network including a corresponding processor or the ATM switch unit(1) when an error is generated. The Ethernet hub(3) is operated so that the server and the client communicate through the network and the alarm control processor(2N) transmits an alarm message to the corresponding processor or provides a remote control signal.
