PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing toner by polymerization method using a stirring blade of such optimum shape as to produce a circulating flow rate sufficient to prevent the formation of a thermal distribution in a stirring tank in a polymerization reaction step and as not to cause a vortex or suction of bubbles from a liquid surface. SOLUTION: The method for producing the toner comprising colored polymer particles obtained by dispersing a polymerizable monomer composition consisting essentially of a polymerizable monomer and a colorant in an aqueous dispersion medium and polymerizing the composition is characterized in that the polymerization step is carried out using a vertical stirring tank 1 and a stirring blade set in the stirring tank is a combination of an anchor blade 2 and a platelike blade 3 attached to the same rotating shaft 4 as that of the anchor blade 2.
