PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent offset on a print surface, hold a superior printing quality with no stain on the sheet surface, and prevent a section from falling off from a nipping device. SOLUTION: In the folding part of a rotary press, this nipping device 9 provided in a nipping cylinder retains a preceding side of a continuous sheet guided between a serrated cutting cylinder and a folding cylinder by a retainer mechanism provided in the folding cylinder, guides it along the outer circumferential surface of the folding cylinder, while winding it around the outer circumferential surface of the folding cylinder by the rotation of the folding cylinder, cuts it into a preset length by a cutting mechanism, guides the cut sheet to an appropriate position along the outer circumferential surface of the folding cylinder, releases the preceding side of the cut sheet from the retaining, projects it into a nipping cylinder 3 by a piercing blade 8, and nips the piercing blade and the cut sheet W1 made to project by the piercing blade so as to fold the cut sheet W1 . This device is provided with an opening part 10 in the outer circumferential surface of the nipping cylinder in parallel to an axis, a jaw part 11 comprising a thin-plate elastic body in the inner wall end part of the opening part 10, and a nipping means 12 having a movable plate 13 comprising a thin-plate elastic body. |
