PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information terminal unit that reduces the volume of digital map data without compromising the function of an application utilizing the digital map data, and to provide a map information providing system. SOLUTION: The information terminal unit 1 is provided with a first input section 11, a position detecting section 12, and a first arithmetic processing section 13. The unit 1 is also provided with a data storing section 15, a first data reading-out section 18, and a connection information preparing section 17. In addition, the unit 1 is also provided with a first output section 16. The data storing section 15 stores map data in such a data structure that the connection information between nodes and links constituting a road network is omitted in a restorable form. The connection information preparing section 17 complements and prepares the connection information with respect to the digital map data. The first arithmetic processing section 13 performs various kinds of data processing, such as routing position detection, etc., by using the connection information complemented and prepared by means of the section 17. |
