PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for detecting wear of an electrode of a fixed welding gun capable of correctly detecting the wear of the electrode of the fixed welding gun by a robot. SOLUTION: In the method for detecting the wear of both electrodes 2 and 3 of the fixed welding gun provided with a moving side electrode 2 and a fixed side electrode 3 facing the moving side electrode 2 to weld a work W held by a robot R, the reference position of the electrode ends of the electrodes 2 and 3 is read by an electrode end detector 7 fitted to the robot R, the position of the electrode end is detected by the electrode end detector 7 during the welding, and the wear of the electrodes 2 and 3 is operated by the difference of the reference position.
