A cutting tool comprises a shank 1, a wedgeshaped shim 8 screwed to a face 3 in the shank, a tip 9 seating on the shim, a chip breaker 6 pinned to a clamp 4, and an eccentric ring 12 held against the clamp by a spring-urged screw 15. Ring 12 has serrations 11 which engage webs 10 on clamp 4, and the latter has a projection 13 which engages a slit 14 in the shank. The space between the top of shim 8 and the underside of chip breaker 6 or the clamp if the chip breaker is omitted is tapered away from the shank. In a modification the shim is parallel and face 3 is angled relative to the underside of clamp 4. In a further modification the shim is omitted. |
