PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems that a loadmeter capable of measuring a great load several times larger than the maxium value of all the resistances measured actually is required to be used to prevent the loadmeter form being damaged, because acceleration generated when a travel truck starts traveling to start model towing and when the traveling is finished, impact force when a clamp device for stopping a model is opened and closed, and the like are applied onto the loadmeter, in a towing and resistance measuring instrument for a model ship, that the loadmeter gets expensive as a result thereof and that a measuring error becomes large. SOLUTION: A cushioning device for the acceleration and the impact is attached to the resistance measuring instrument to absorb the acceleration generated when the towing of the model ship is started and when the towing is finished, and the impact force when the clamp device is opened and closed, and the resistance measuring instrument corresponding to all the load measured actually is allowed thereby to be used.
