METHOD FOR EVALUATING THIXOTROPY OF MATERIAL FOR SEMI MELT FORMING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for evaluating simply in a short time whether or not a material for semimelt molding is fully granulated with the dendrite structure broken and has high thixotropic properties in a semimelt state. SOLUTION: The thixotropic properties of the material for semimelt forming are evaluated by a degree of deformation of the material when a predetermined temperature between a liquidus temperature and a solidus temperature of the material to be evaluated, and a predetermined pressure are applied to the material. When the material is an Al-Si alloy including 6.5-7.5 mass percentage of Si, the material is deformed by applying the pressure of not smaller than 3.4×10<4> Pa.
