A thermoplastic resin composition (molding material) which suppresses dynamic brittleness caused by a reduction in molecular weight when a thermoplastic resin such as a hydrogenated styrene polymer is melt molded and does not generate crazes even when it is used at an atmosphere of high temperature and high humidity, and a substrate for optical recording media, which is made from the same. The thermoplastic resin composition comprises a thermoplastic polymer having an alicyclic group and an addition stabilizer which can undergo addition reaction with a radical formed by the cleavage of the thermoplastic polymer.
